Becoming an informed citizen truly engaged in our political system, not as a mindless party follower but as an independent thinker, is difficult and requires as a first step going beyond the mainstream media as your source of news and actively and constantly seeking new sources of news and, even more importantly, ideas. Above all, this search requires vigilance.
