Career Politician is “Doggone Offended” that Activists Would Oppose his Reelection

Utah Republican Orrin Hatch was first elected to the Senate in 1976. This year, major conservative groups announced their intention of defeating Hatch. In our American democracy, this kind of activism that forces politicians to compete for their seats is of course good and just but Hatch only had this to say concerning his opposition: “I despise these people and I’m not the guy you come in and dump on without getting punched in the mouth.”

I used to think that kind of behavior was reserved to toddlers who don’t get what they want but apparently our senators feel that they’re entitled to the same tantrums.

Such is the conceit of the self-anointed.
